Since ancient times the oak-clad hills of Chianti have been celebrated for their wines and their beauty. Perched on its strategic hilltop, the 9th century farmstead of Pornano lies at the heart of Chianti, clustered around a fortified tower house and surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and hillsides splashed with broom, cornflowers and poppies. It was a working vineyard producing Chianti Classico until modern times.

The Vineyard at Pornano was formerly the grand hay barn of the farm. Built of the local golden limestone roofed with terracotta, it has now become an elegant and characterful holiday home in the Tuscan style - exposed stone walls, arches, chestnut beamed ceilings, terracotta and four-poster beds. The conveniences of modern life have been unobtrusively added, including full aircon, flat-screen television and wi-fi. Several terraces afford ample outdoor sitting and eating space. The main house has 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. A separate guesthouse 10 yards away has a 4th double bedroom with its own attached sitting room, bathroom and terrace.
